Hear Here is a project of KALW 91.7FM Local Public Radio, designed to illuminate life in Oakland and San Francisco by visiting public libraries and recording the stories of the people who visit them. We're currently working with the 81st Avenue library in East Oakland and the Visitacion Valley library in San Francisco.
How does it work?
Share your story with Hear Here at one of our library recordings (see the Events page for upcoming dates). You can also record your story right here on the Participate page! We’ll share what we’ve learned on air, online, and on stage at live events.
Hear There, Everywhere!
Find Hear Here stories from both cities on our Listening Map. Tune into KALW 91.7FM each week to listen to Hear Here stories on the air. And join us and Hear Here participants, local musicians, and artists for live storytelling events at your local library. Together, we’ll get to know the Bay Area landscape through the people who shape it, day in and day out.
“Hear Here: A Pop-Up Radio Project” is brought to you by KALW 91.7FM and Localore, a national initiative produced by AIR, the Association of Independents in Radio, Incorporated, with financial support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Wyncote Foundation, the John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
